Project Description

PURPOSE:

The main purpose of this project is to provide global positioning information on vehicles, provide logistics services to those vehicles and functions to increase security. This service will cover European countries for vehicles that travel on motorways and seaways.

Services that will be provided:

  • Geographical location information of vehicles via the Internet
  • Ability to integrate with self-navigation systems
  • Logistics and communication services including messaging, job assignment, invoicing and printing capabilities to mobile teams
  • Integration between mobile team applications and systems like SAP and BAAN
  • Messaging and communication to and between mobile teams
  • Monitoring vehicle data like fuel level, oil level, engine temperature and break air pressure.
SCOPE:
  • Main Centre: Vehicle Information provided by control centres will be collected at main centre. Tracking and reporting services will be provided by this centre. Integration with services like SAP and BAAN will also be provided.
  • Control Centres: The control centres will be established in several European countries and regions. Those centres will only communicate with those vehicles travelling in its coverage area. Control centres hardware and communication capacity will be scaled on demand. All control centres will be connected to the main centre via networks like satellites or leased line links.
  • Vehicle Unit: Vehicle unit will be installed on the vehicles, which will be tracked and integrated with the network. This unit will be a GPS enabled and highly customizable device for several requirements. Vehicle unit will be able to communicate, manage and provide network gateway to mobile devices like notebooks and PDAs. Vehicle units will also communicate with control centres.
  • Communication Service Providers: Vehicle unit and control centres will communicate via wireless technologies like GSM data, GPRS and satellite communications. Also, main centres and control centres will be connected via leased line or satellite links. These services will be requested from many service providers.
